A desperate clinging to power – making a deal with the devil

September 2, 2010

Julia-the-Red Gillard came to power by backstabbing Kevin Rudd (KRUDD) in the back. Ever since she had been made deputy Prime Minister in the KRUDD government, it was an odds on bet that Gillard would make the attempt to stab Krudd in the back so that she could become the first woman Prime Minister of Australia. The coup was staged at a point when the ALP government was suffering in the newspaper polls, such that the advice given was that the Coalition would gain government if there was an election held. Julia-the-Red Gillard then told the press that the “government had lost its way”.  One of the fun things about the election campaign that was otherwise dull, boring and irritating (having to listen to her voice is really irritating), happened to be the leak about how Julia-the-Red stabbed KRUDD in the back.

Australia went to the polls on the 21st of August 2010 after Julia-the-Red Gillard decided to pull an early election, a stunt which should have seen her dumped from power. The result that emerged from counting on the night was that there was to be a hung Parliament, with 4 Independents plus a Green Party member holding the balance of power.  It must be understood that these Independents and Green Party member did not necessarily get the majority of the first preferences in their electorates. Take the example of Andrew Wilkie in Denison, Tasmania, he got the 3rd most votes in the electorate yet he ended up becoming the sitting member. Another example is that of Adam Bandt of the Watermelon aka Green Party. He did not win the majority of votes in the electorate of Melbourne, but he won the seat on the Liberal preferences.  Also, if we had a first past the post system, there would have been a landslide victory for the Coalition who would have won at least 84 seats.  So, it would seem that Australia’s Preferential system brought about the same result that we saw in the United Kingdom, where the Conservatives and the Labor Party ended up with the same number of seats and the Conservatives forged a working coalition with the Liberal-Democrat Party in order to form government.

From the outset of this result and the continuation of counting, Julia-the-Red has come out with statements that shows her desperation as she attempts to cling to power. The ALP failed to get the majority of the votes from the population, and they failed to win the majority of the seats. At this point in time there is one seat in doubt, that of Corangamite, which could go either way. If Sarah Henderson does win then the Coalition will have 2 more seats than the ALP. There are 4 Independents, and the Green has aligned himself  with the ALP (there has been a really grubby deal). One of the arguments being used by Julia-the-Red concerning her right to form government has been that of statistic used by the AEC (Australian Electoral Commission) called the Two Party preferred. On the night of the election Gillard was claiming the high ground, that the ALP had the 2PP, yet this is now clearly nonsense. At this point in time the Coalition is also ahead with the 2PP. It should be a non-issue and it really has nothing at all to do with which party should form government.

Yesterday Julia-the-Red signed an agreement with Senator Bob Brown of the Watermelon Party aka the Greens which forms a new coalition. Next July when the Senate changes the Watermelon Party will hold the balance of power with a potential of 9 Senators. Despite the fact that only 11% of the Australian population put the Greens first, they have managed to gain 6 Senators in this election because of the quota system that is used for the sorting of preferences, and the preference deals that are done pre-election. What it also means is that the Watermelon member of the House of Representatives is now a part of the coalition of ALP-Green, and this means that  Coalition has 73 seats and ALP-Green have 72 seats with 1 seat in doubt.  An added distraction is that a member of the National Party, Tony Crook of WA has announced that he wants to sit on the cross benches. At present the AEC has not made him an Independent, so this means an adjustment to the seat numbers giving each side 72 seats each with 1 seat in doubt.

Julia-the-Red is not above cutting some very slimey deals with all of these individuals so that she can retain power.  There are two Independents who seem determined to go with the ALP – Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott. In fact if Oakeshott had been honest then he should have been standing as a Watermelon Party member and not as an Independent.

The outcome of the grubby and slimey deal that has been made is that it looks like Australia will be faced with a carbon tax that will do nothing to change “emissions” but will cause an impoverishment of the general population. How will those people from Mt. Druitt feel when they discover that this deal with the devil (between Julia-the-Red) and Bob Brown means that they will be really struggling to pay their mortgages, especially when they will be faced with a really huge increase in the cost of their utility bills? Maybe at the next election the seat of Lindsay will be a landslide to the Liberal Party candidate.

I have labelled Julia Gillard as Julia-the-Red in acknowledgement of her Marxist background. I use the Watermelon Party as an analogy because the Greens are indeed Marxists who are hiding under the Green Party designation. They are green on the outside and red on the inside. It looks very much like Julia-the-Red Gillard has usurped power and has ignored the will of the Australian electorate. This is not good news for Australia.
