This glacier is in the Columbia Park Ice field in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The day that we visited the glacier was quite warm with temperatures in the region reaching a little above 90F.
What we see here normal for the summer months. There is nothing extraordinary going on. In fact it is amazing to think that the glacier can exist despite a high temperature in the area.
In the Rocky Mountains and elsewhere, glaciers tend to melt during the spring and summer. This is a necessary part of the life cycle. The waters from these glaciers move to both the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans. The scenery in the area is really quite spectacular.
